Stampede 101
Thank you to those who joined our 2018 Stampede 101 event!
We are blessed to have such wonderful partners who joined us last night for another incredible Stampede 101. We had so much fun teaching our mentees, newcomers to Canada, all about Stampede culture and the networking opportunities that the Stampede presents.
Thank you to Elder Patrick Daigneault who blessed us and spoke on Indigenous ways of knowing and being, as well as Kirby Redwood, Executive Director at Pathways CSA who spoke passionately of natural law and sharing our stories. To our line dance instructor, Tanya Martin, who joined us for a second year; she is a one-of-a-kind with the most incredible dance moves!
David Low, Elena Nesler and Linnea Dixon joined us from the Victoria Park Business Association. They shared wonderful background and the “why” behind Stampede.
Our very own Tariq Elgana excited the crowd with his energy and enthusiasm for rodeo. His story of coming here to Calgary from Dubai in the hopes of being in the rodeo one day was fascinating and uplifting.
And lastly, the dynamic Indigenous dance group “Wandering Spirit”, taught us about Indigenous culture and dance. They sure got everyone up and moving!
A special thank you to Constable Omid Nezami Proactive Recruiter Royal Canadian Mounted Police and his partner for stopping by and joining our festivities, and to Fort Calgary for their wonderful hospitality!
This event keeps getting better because of the people that continue to come out and make it so very special. We thank you!
